Initially, I was not very enthusiastic about these initiatives. I thought, “What? I’m supposed to clean up other people’s trash? I don’t see that happening! The polluters themselves should be held accountable!” Unfortunately, this happens far too seldom because these people are usually not caught or, on a larger scale, legal/political leverage is lacking. That is one thing. The other thing is pictures that I have seen. Pictures, of turtles stuck in plastic, of the stomachs of many seabirds starved to death with full plastic bellies, hedgehogs with their heads stuck in cans, and much more.

Garbage does not belong in our environment!

But now that it’s there, posing a threat to nature, I’ve decided to do my part for a better world worth living in.

And I invite you to do the same!

As a company, we want to collect waste in our regions. We want to document it and also put out a LinkedIn post about it on Sept. 16 – World CleanUpDay.

With this action we want to kill two birds with one stone:

1. Actually clean up our immediate environment!
2. Draw attention to this issue and encourage our fellow human beings to think about the issue themselves and, in the best case scenario, to act accordingly.

This is what the action looks like:

1. You guys let us know and keep us posted.
2. See if you can find a time for a CleanUpDay together with colleagues from your region – feel free to use our MS Teams group for this. You can also do this on your own. Maybe Christian, Adela or other colleagues will also manage to come and support.
3. You think about where and how long the action should be implemented. It should take place between May and July 2023 and last at least 1.5 hours.
4. You contact the regional disposal facility. They will provide you with bags, gloves, and sometimes grabbers. You can also arrange with them where the full bags will be picked up again by them.
   If there are problems here, CyberShield will provide you with bags and gloves.
5. If you need support during the planning phase, we are there for you and support – take over e.g. phone calls.
6. Don’t forget to document the action with photos!
7. Don’t forget to send us the photos!
8. Have fun and an excellent feeling of having done something good!
9. Celebrate this success with a delicious meal or in a cozy bar (CyberShield will pay a maximum of 30,- for the meal or 20,- Euro for the bar (per person) – don’t forget to bring the receipt! CleanUp time is working time!)
